Momentum Movers |
AI infrastructure owned the leaderboard, while one former front-runner found the trapdoor. |
$AAOI ( ▲ 9.19% ) : Applied Optoelectronics, jumped 13 spots to #12: This week’s top dawg gained 43.8% after Q2 revenue hit $191.9M and management guided Q3 sales to $255M–$290M. Its 23.6K watchers came along for the ride. Risk: A small group of customers still supplies a substantial share of revenue. |
$BAND ( ▲ 11.79% ) : Bandwidth, new at #19 from off-list: The cloud communications provider climbed 27.6% after quarterly revenue reached $220M and management raised its full-year outlook to $900M–$910M. AI services appeared in every $1M-plus customer win. Risk: GAAP gross margin fell to 36% from 40%. |
$BLZE ( ▲ 3.92% ) : Backblaze, jumped nine spots to #9: Shares ripped 37.2% after revenue grew 18%, B2 Cloud Storage sales jumped 34%, and Backblaze signed a five-year, $335M CoreWeave agreement. Risk: The CoreWeave deal drove most of the quarterly increase in remaining performance obligations, creating a much bigger concentration bet. |
$FFA ( ▲ 0.6% ) I: Faraday Future, fell nine spots to #10: The former leader dropped 30.9% this week but remained up 302% for the year, with 26.7K watchers tracking the unwind. Risk: Shareholders vote Aug. 12 on issuing common stock to convertible-note holders, followed by earnings Aug. 13. Dilution gets two swings. |
$AEHR ( ▲ 3.34% ) : Aehr Test Systems, climbed five spots to #2: The semiconductor-testing name gained 28.9% as a $100.6M effective backlog supported fiscal 2027 revenue guidance of $130M–$150M. Risk:Fiscal 2026 revenue still fell to $50M from $59M, and the recovery depends heavily on AI customer ramps. |
Next week’s swing factor: July CPI lands Aug. 12. Another hot inflation print would pressure the long-duration AI names, while a cooler reading could keep this earnings-driven momentum trade alive. |
