The tenge can fluctuate strongly against the dollar or the euro depending on oil prices, capital flows, monetary policy or even the evolution of the dollar. For a foreign investor, a strong depreciation of the currency can therefore significantly reduce the performance achieved on local stocks, even if company fundamentals remain solid.
