Mid-Cap / Micro-Cap Top Movers of the Week |
Moderna’s +129% week lit the biotech fuse, while one reverse split scrambled the Russell scoreboard. |
$MRNA ( ▲ 8.86% ) : Moderna, the market-wide lead-in: Shares jumped +129% this week after the melanoma vaccine it developed with Merck met both Phase 3 endpoints. Wednesday’s +177% surge partially unwound, but Friday added +9%. Risk:Moderna hasn’t disclosed the treatment effect, and full results remain pending. |
$ATEX ( ▲ 9.31% ) : Anterix, this week’s top dawg after jumping from #23 to #7: Shares gained +9% as investors revisited its utility-spectrum pipeline and SpaceX-related optionality. The company had $33.1M of contracted proceeds outstanding at quarter-end, but revenue was only $2M. Risk:Monetization still depends on closing lumpy spectrum deals. |
$SLS ( ▲ 15.37% ) : Sellas Life Sciences, new at #8: Shares ran +15% as Moderna’s cancer-vaccine result reignited retail interest in immuno-oncology. Sellas still hasn’t released final REGAL Phase 3 data. Risk:The AML trial’s final analysis is binary and triggers at 80 deaths; only 78 were reported as of May 11. |
$BYND ( ▲ 2.0% ) : Beyond Meat, new at #1: The screen showed +1,701% YTD, but that figure is a 1-for-30 reverse-split mirage, not an investable return. Q2 sales fell to $68.8M, while adjusted EBITDA remained a $27.7M loss. Risk: Weak demand, cash burn, and debt still overwhelm the chart. |
$AEHR ( ▼ 4.0% ) : Aehr Test Systems, climbed from #5 to #4 despite a -4% week: Momentum cracked after a fourfold YTD run, even with $100.6M of effective backlog and another silicon-photonics production order. Risk: The order ships in early 2027, while the roughly 25x forward-sales multiple leaves little room for delays. |
Next week’s swing factor: Nvidia reports Aug. 26.Its AI demand commentary will test Aehr, MaxLinear, Applied Optoelectronics, and Ichor. |
